The Kansas election has come and gone. For some it was a heartbreaking experience: to work day and night with victory in sight only to have it snatched away by apathy. For others it was a great encouragement and liberating experience: to go from apathy and blind trust to informed activism for a worthy cause. And for some it was bittersweet or some combination of the two: disappointed because our full potential was not reached, yet excited and encouraged to see the movement we’ve worked so hard and so long for taking off like never before.
I hope this last month has been one of great rest for you. That rest was well deserved, but if you’re anything like me, and if the dozens of emails and phone calls about our next meeting have anything to say about it, the liberty bug has bit you bad and you can’t help but be excited about what comes next.
I don’t know if all of you have heard yet, but there was some breaking news today. Rick Santorum is dropping out of the race. Doors are continuing to open for us and close for our opponents. The question we have to ask ourselves, and our neighbors, is this: Is Romney good enough for you? Is 4 more years good enough for you?
I didn’t think so.
So let’s do this. This Saturday, 2pm at Mike’s Steakhouse, we will have our first get together to talk about where we go from here.
On the agenda will be information for those of you who signed up to be a delegate/alternate, information on how we can inform ourselves at the local and state level, as well as how we can get involved at the local and state level. There will also be a lot of open discussion so that ideas can be brought up by -everyone- so that we can all know how to best support each other and grow.
Before I let you go, there is one last thing I want to address a little more, and that is to those of you who are new to the liberty movement and those who are still depressed or see no point in continuing to fight. This weekend I got to spend some really great time with my family where we just spent time together, listened to music, talked, and watched movies. One of the movies we watched was ‘Facing the Giants’ and there is a story from that movie that I would like to share with you.
“I heard a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain. And both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain?”
Our country is in desperate need of liberty. We can want it, post about it on Facebook, get depressed about it, complain about it, and pray for it all we want, but if we aren’t out there fighting for what is right by building relationships and working with people on things we can agree on, what does it say about our faith in what we believe in? To my fellow Christians, this has huge implications as to who we are. I realize that not all of you are Christians and not all of you believe in God, so you may not think this applies to you, but it does. The point still stands in regards to our faith in liberty and our own message. We can’t give up. We have to lay the groundwork for liberty or the rain may come on an unprepared field. So my question to you is this:
Which farmer are you? I think I know the answer to that question.
“God will send the rain when He’s ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it.”
I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
